This guide was designed to assist visitors with buying decisions, as well as provide beginners with the knowledge they need to upgrade a PC on their own.

Many people don't realize it's not hard to give a computer new life. Adding memory, or replacing a CPU, hard drive, or video card are each effective and relatively easy to do. In The Industry Standard, J.C. Hertz wrote "...it's only a matter of time before people figure out that replacing a CPU is easier than assembling Ikea furniture."*

Really, the hardest part is determining what to buy. Luckily you're on the right track -- just grab your reading glasses!
